Inboard Axle Seal Install - Jeep

Front AxleIf you’ve ever had to replace the axle seals in a Jeep Cherokee, you know how difficult it can be to install the new ones. There’s not enough room to align a seal driver and when you try to tap the seal in without one, you just end up chasing it around in circles. Either way, you don’t have sufficient room to really swing your hammer enough to drive the seals in anyway.

I did a set the other day and the picture shows what I came up with:

  • A piece of all-thread
  • 2 nuts
  • 2 washers - sized a little larger than the outer circumference of the seal

Royal Gorge Railroad

Royal Gorge Rail

Railroads started coming to Colorado around the 1870’s, mainly for the mining industry. Most were built through rugged terrain and during nearly impossible conditions. The Canon City and Royal Gorge Railroad (CC&RG) was no exception and shows it’s tribute to human ingenuity and determination as well.

We arrived at the depot about an hour early for our “lunch class” ride on the CC&RG. The current depot was completed in 1914 to replace the original frame building. As you can imagine, it now sports a gift shop and play area for the kids. Continue Reading »
